Cali was always a strong kid. Even when she was in the womb, we knew she would be tough. We called her “Bam-bam” before we knew she was a girl. We knew she was destined to be a brute since her father, Iron Mark Dupree, is a pro kick boxer (Muay Thai). Her mother, Shauna Dupree, loves BJJ and arm wrestling (First Queen of the Rock champion). As soon as she could stand, she would put on her dads boxing gloves and want us to put wraps on her hands. Her favorite form of play was beating up her parents and siblings. When she was 6, we tried talking her into wrestling. She didn’t want to. We found out later, it was because she thought the point was to put your face in your opponent’s butt. HA! Cali started her wrestling career at the age of 7 and did really well her first season. Last season she did good but we didn’t excel as one should. That is what brought us to Rare Breed Academy. She needed somewhere she could excel and had challenging work outs instead of “sharks and minnows”. Last season, she tried her hand at the state series and didn’t even make it to regionals. This year, she made it to state! Cali started Jiu Jitsu about a month after starting wrestling under Rick Koenig (Bull Pen Mafia). In her first year she belted up several times until she had earned her orange belt. We are so excited that Rare Breed also trains BJJ but she will also still be training with Professor Koenig at Bull Pen Mafia in Branson. Cali also started Judo last spring and continues to learn this art at BPM. Cali is right where she belongs with other kids of a Rare Breed!
